LA GODASSE

IN SHORT

Theater and Dance

ARTS and SCIENCES show

Born from the desire to bring forth the most vivid, absorbing, striking, shaping, and inspiring memories, and from the inner necessity to continue exploring the Body–Mind duality, this creation invites you to an intimate introspection.

A social and collective fable— poised between friction and fragility— woven from deep anchor points and a thousand emotional prisms, three artists on stage lead you on a journey at once utopian and dystopian, into past, present, or future—the choice is yours.

And you—what do you carry deep down in your shoe?

Our memories?

A few seconds well hidden deep in our shoes!

Marie is a young lady of 82… or 43—she’s no longer quite sure, and it’s certainly not going to get any clearer!

She has lost her shoe—her slipper her pump, her boot, her good old trusty godasse!

Inside that shoe lay a whole jumble of things: tiny treasures, bits and pieces, odds and ends.

And Marie, in utter desperation, sets off to find this bric-a-brac of her life—these precious fragments of herself.

But in the midst of her twists and troubles, will Marie ever manage to find her Godasse again?

Peggy HUGON invites spectators to be swept into an atmosphere that awakens intimate resonances, an atmosphere in which we experience the present moment through traces of memory—invisible, yet deeply perceptible.

The piece becomes an invitation to reflect on the ways our bodies carry stories we sometimes don’t know how to speak.

It stands as a tribute to the power of invisible marks engraved within us—an ode to the Keepers of our memories..

BODY / MIND DUALITY

If we were to lay out all the shoes someone has worn over the course of a lifetime, before our very eyes, would we not see their life unfold?

And what if, in the end, a tiny, minuscule, infinitesimal handful of seconds summed up an entire existence?

What do we truly remember of our lives? Our encounters, our joys, our sorrows, our fears?

And what if, among all these moments, only a single suspended instant remained?

A glance, a gesture, a scent, a texture, a word, an emotion?

What if our memories fit gently in the curve of our hand, kept warm at the very bottom of our soul?

What if…What if…What if…

What if all of it amounted to a single handful of seconds,

A handful tucked neatly at the bottom of our Godasse?

‘The body knows things that the mind does not yet know.’

Jacques Lecoq, actor and director (1997)

In this piece, Peggy HUGON continues her exploration of the Body–Mind duality. She approaches the theme of memory from multiple angles—especially through the body’s memory as the source of an engaged dramaturgy. The work examines memory through the sensory prism: the resonances of what leaves a trace within us—those piercing instants that carve us, wrap around us, frighten us, amuse us— and ultimately, what remains when we revisit those moments.

On one side, a constructed memory, carefully stored in the recesses of our mind, where the question of reliability always hovers. On the other, the body’s memory— a complex, embodied process that leaves deep marks, a cathartic memory that escapes rational understanding.

The aim is to capture the construction and the path of these fragments of life that sometimes slip through our fingers, weaving them into an organic aesthetic and writing style where emotional experience becomes tangible—almost touchable.
